Understand why it matters
Recovery credentials can restore control of a wallet. They are not ordinary verification codes or support documents. Whether and how recovery is possible depends on the wallet’s current official instructions.
Keep backups out of unnecessary circulation
Choose a backup method you can maintain and check over time. Do not put recovery information in public notes, chats, editorial submissions or screenshots. A description of a problem does not need to include it.
Check the process without exposing the secret
Follow the wallet’s official process in a trusted environment to confirm a backup is usable. Stop and verify any unfamiliar website or conversation that asks for recovery credentials as a “test”. Reading safety articles does not require these secrets.
